Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

Purl ("we", "our", or "us") operates the purlogs.com website and the Purl self-hosted log aggregation platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website and services.

Self-Hosted Architecture

Purl is a self-hosted log aggregation system. Your log data is stored entirely on your own servers and infrastructure. Your log data never leaves your servers and is never transmitted to or processed by Purl. We have no access to, and do not collect, store, or process any of your log data. The only data we handle is account and billing information through our website at purlogs.com.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account on purlogs.com, we collect your email address and name. This information is used to manage your account, provide customer support, and send you important service-related communications.

Billing Information

If you subscribe to a paid plan (Pro or Enterprise), payment information is collected and processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We do not directly store your credit card numbers or full payment details. Stripe handles all payment processing in accordance with PCI-DSS standards.

Usage Analytics

We collect basic analytics about how you interact with the purlogs.com website, such as pages visited and session duration. This helps us improve the website experience. We do not collect any analytics from your self-hosted Purl instance.

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and maintain our services — manage your account, deliver license keys, and provide access to paid features.
  • Process billing — handle subscription payments, invoicing, and refunds through Stripe.
  • Customer support — respond to your inquiries and provide technical assistance.
  • Service communications — send essential emails such as license expiry reminders, billing receipts, and security notices.
  • Improve our services — analyze website usage patterns to improve the user experience.

License Activation

When you activate a Pro or Enterprise license, your self-hosted Purl instance performs a minimal license key validation request to our servers. This verification transmits only the license key itself for validation purposes. No log data, server metrics, hostnames, IP addresses, or any other operational data is transmitted during license validation. License validation occurs at activation time and during periodic checks to confirm the license remains active.

We use session cookies that are strictly necessary for authentication and security on purlogs.com. These cookies allow you to stay signed in and access your account securely. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. Session cookies are automatically deleted when you sign out or when they expire.

Data Retention

We retain your account and billing information for as long as your account remains active. If you cancel your subscription, your account data is kept in an inactive state so you can reactivate at any time. If you request account deletion, we will permanently delete all of your personal data within 30 days of the request, except where we are required by law to retain certain records (such as billing records for tax compliance).

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data. All data transmitted between your browser and purlogs.com is encrypted using TLS. Database access is restricted and protected by row-level security policies. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
